About Me

Hello, and welcome. My name is Martie Stern.

I create one-of-a-kind quilted heirloom keepsakes by giving vintage linens new life. These textiles—often overlooked or no longer used—are thoughtfully repurposed into meaningful pieces meant to be cherished and used.

Free-motion quilting is the foundation of my work, allowing each piece to develop its own character. Hand dyeing, lace work, embroidery, and beadwork are added selectively to complement the new creation. My approach is guided by honoring the original maker and working resourcefully with what already exists, creating useful, beautiful items for everyday enjoyment.

When I’m not in the studio, I enjoy life with my husband, Michael, whose steady support has meant everything on this journey. Together we tend our homestead, spending time gardening, preserving the food we grow, and caring for our horses, kitties, and my retired and active medical service dogs.

I believe deeply in loving what you make, and making what you love.

Warmly,

Martie~
